A volley!

At 55 years old Bobby Riggs, former Wimbledon and United States Open Tennis champion raised the profile of womens' tennis. It became a major spectator sport when he lost a well publicized match against Billie Jean King. "The battle of the sexes" went 6-4, 6-3, 6-3, to 29 year old Billie Jean King. 30,472 people attended the Houston Astrodome and 50 million veiwers watched the match on television. It was the early years of the womens' liberation movement and so transcended the boundaries of sport.
