What next!

After 94 years Australian Rules Football had become a national game with consequent travel involved after all mainland states were finally represented with the 1991 admission of the Adelaide Crows from South Australia. This was facilitated by the name change in 1990 of Victorian Football League - VFL to AFL - Australian Football League.

South Africa had been readmitted to the Olympic Games after the abolition of apartheid.
